We all have a story and a past that has contributed to who we are today. We grow in community as we share our story and hear other’s stories. We can grow in appreciating and respecting those we share life with as we hear the richness of their stories. Sharing our own story and hearing other’s also cultivates a deeper trust in God – both God’s sovereign hand and God’s power to work in us as we yield ourselves to God, no matter the circumstances of each season of life.
At First Baptist Church of Tucker, we see spiritual formation as a lifelong journey towards becoming like Jesus. Everyone’s pathway is different but the destination is the same – Christlikeness. Individual study and study in the community of others assists in spiritual formation. Suggestions for individual study are offered throughout the year. Currently we are reading through the Bible using the resource, God Sightings. Through these readings, we are learning to experience God every day. Here are a list of the readings for the year: (link to list of God Sightings readings) Spiritual formation in the community of others occurs in small groups, in worship, in fellowship, and in serving alongside others.
During Sunday Morning Bible Study, one can select from various options of study that vary based on one’s learning style (i.e. discussion or lecture), or class make-up (i.e. coed). Classes are somewhat aged-based but an individual is welcome to attend any class one chooses. For a list of classes and topics each is currently studying, go to this link:
In addition to Sunday Morning Bible Study, one can select from various other options for community study throughout the year. These options are the following:
Ladies Bible Study – an opportunity for ladies to gather for Bible study. At the beginning of the year everyone will have the option of a morning or an evening group..
Tucker Book Group – this group reads one book a month and meets around a pot of coffee to discuss the book.
